Following the launch of our Housewarming Guides, we will be running a series of monthly ‘Housewarmings’ – structured meetings with local residents. Everyone who lives in North Oxford is warmly invited – if you have not yet joined the existing networking group, you are welcome to do so now. The monthly meetings will start on Tuesday 11 October and continue until July 2023 and will be held at the Woodstock Road Baptist Church, 198 Woodstock Road, OX2 7NQ (corner of Beech Croft Road). All the meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month, every month except for December and April. They start at 7.30 pm and finish at 9.00 pm. 

The Housewarmings are friendly, informative meetings designed to help you through the decision-making involved in making your home warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and in saving energy. You don’t need to sign up to all of them – come to one, several or all.

In each meeting we’ll explore an aspect of one of the six Housewarming Guides, and allow plenty of time for peer support and sharing experiences. We ask you to do a little bit of preparation for each meeting, usually in the form of a short questionnaire. Please save the dates, and please tell friends and neighbours.

8 November 2022 – Insulation I. The basics of a ‘fabric first’ approach and how insulation works.
10 January 2023 – Insulation II. The detail of walls, floors, internal vs external, standards and installers.
14 February 2023 – Windows and Doors. Different kinds of glazing, shutters and blinds, energy standards.
14 March 2023 – Draughts and Ventilation. Getting the balance right, testing options.
9 May 2023 – Heating and Controls. Improving or replacing? Preparing to replace.
13 June 2023 – Whole House Plan. Bringing it all together.
11 July 2023 – Finance. Grants, costs and impact, loan options.
