Low Carbon Oxford North (LCON) is a charity offering practical ideas, information and activities to help people in North Oxford shrink their carbon footprint. It was set up by local residents to support ambitious CO2 cuts in North Oxford. There are many ways we can help you take action including home energy, transport, tree planting, food and consumption and waste. We also provide monthly Climate Cafes as a forum for people to share their responses to climate change in a friendly, low-key setting.
In early 2020 LCON reviewed its strategy in light of the growing climate emergency. LCON’s overall aim is now “that North Oxford contribute to ambitious CO2 reductions by 2030 including a zero-carbon Oxford”.
We hope to contribute to substantial carbon emission reductions by 2030 through:
- collaborating with community groups across Oxford,
- engaging with the city and county councils and other organisations, and
- helping individuals to maximise leverage, as we move from individual to societal change.
