Low Carbon Oxford North (LCON) is a charity set up by local residents to support ambitious CO2 cuts through local action. We work with our community, offering practical ideas, information and activities, to help combat the climate crisis.
There are many ways you can take action including home energy, transport, tree planting, consumption and waste and food. We also provide monthly Climate Cafes as a forum for people to share their responses to climate change in a friendly, low-key setting.
In early 2020 LCON reviewed its strategy in light of the growing climate emergency. LCON’s overall aim is now “that North Oxford contribute to ambitious CO2 reductions by 2030 including a zero-carbon Oxford”. We hope to do so through:
- collaborating with community groups across Oxford,
- engaging with the city and county councils and other organisations, and
- helping individuals to maximise leverage, as we move from individual to societal change.
If you would like to help to cut carbon emissions in our community, please join us or get involved with our work! You can find out more about what we do here and in this short film.
